Not only me, but no other previous minister is continuing now, nobody should behave emphatically for not giving a second term: K K Shylaja

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: When the details of the Pinarayi Vijayan government’s ministers are out, the exclusion of the much-acclaimed health minister K K Shylaja has disappointed everybody. Strong protest and condemnation are brewing against the party leadership in social media which has excluded the state’s ‘teacher-amma.’ Whereas K K Shylaja has issued a statement that is almost in parity with the party leadership’s decision.

K K Shylaja has told media persons that it was not only her but no other ministers in the first cabinet that have received ministerial berths now. She also added that nobody should respond emphatically for not giving ministership to her. “It was the party which gave me the opportunity to function as a minister, therefore I fully abide by the party leadership’s decision,” she said.

She also added that the covid prevention activities were not undertaken by her alone, and they were the result of coordinated activities of the government. “It was the result of a good team which also includes many efficient officers. I am appealing to everyone to give the same level of support that you had given me,” Shylaja said.

Whereas latest reports also say that the party’s central leadership is also irked by state leadership’s decision to exclude K K Shylaja. Even though everybody expected that the second Pinarayi Vijayan government may witness many new faces, it was expected considering the commendable services of K K Shylaja, that norm might be relaxed at least in her case. But the present decision was totally unexpected. Many including, even left supporters have protested against the party’s decision on social media. K K Shylaja has won from Mattannur assembly seat with a record majority.
